Ahmad Milad Karimi, born in Afghanistan and raised in Darmstadt, is a German religious philosopher and Islamic scholar. He is a professor of Islamic philosophy and deputy managing director of the Centre for Islamic Theology in Münster. The author of a German-language translation of the Koran is also a writer and journalist. In 2015, he received the Rumi Prize for Islamic Studies for his work ‘Hingabe’ (Devotion). In 2019, he received the Voltaire Prize for ‘Tolerance, International Understanding and Respect for Difference’ from the University of Potsdam and the German Dialogue Prize in the category ‘Science and Education’ from the Federation of German Dialogue Institutions.
