Najat Abed Alsamad is a Syrian doctor and novelist, born in the city of Suwayda and based in Berlin. She has published several novels, including "No Water Can Quench Her Thirst" (لا ماء يرويها)—winner of the 2018 Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction—and her latest novel, "Orphans of the Mountains" (أيتام الجبال, 2025)
