Anis Hamdoun

Anis Hamdoun is a Syrian-German theatre director and playwright, born in Homs in 1985. He left Syria in 2012 after sustaining an injury to his left eye in a bombing. He relocated to Germany where he has been active in theatre and film since 2014. His work has earned him several awards, and in 2018 he was named one of Lower Saxony's influential cultural figures. His latest film, "Hafif", was released in 2026.
