Ahmed Abdrabou
Alle AutorenDr. Ahmed Abdrabou is an Associate Professor of International and Area Studies at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver. Since September 2023, he has served as the Director of the U.S.-Japan Diplomacy Program. As of September 2024, he became the same institution’s Associate Director of the Center for Middle East Studies. Previously, Dr. Abdrabou was a tenured faculty member in the Political Science Department at Cairo University. His academic expertise and research focus on political Islam, democratization, civil-military relations, and East Asian politics, particularly emphasizing public policy decisio making in nonformal settings within the East Asian experience. He holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Meiji University and Hokkaido University. Dr. Abdrabou has held visiting professor and scholar positions at prestigious institutions, including the Free University of Berlin and the Hertie School in Germany. His recent publications include Good Governance and Civil–Security Relations: A Comparative Study of Turkey and Egypt (Routledge, 2023) and From Mohamed Ali to the Cairo Fire: Stories from Egypt’s Modern History (Dar El Shorouk, 2024). In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Abdrabou writes a weekly column for Shorouk Newspaper in Egypt
