Istanbul Summer Course
The University of Istanbul will invite 50 students to the Turkish capital to participate in its “Turkish Language and Regional Studies” summer course, going from August 13 to September 2. In a wide variety of events, the program will deal with various issues, such as Turkish language, Turkish literature, and Turkish regional studies.
There will be meetings with high-ranking representatives from the fields of science, politics, and culture as well as excursions to Ankara and Çannakale. Applications for the course may be handed in by students of all faculties from throughout Europe – provided they have an excellent knowledge of Turkish.
Fees for the course are 250 EUR, including accommodation at the University’s students dormitory, catering, and costs for all excursions. Journey costs and planning to and from Istanbul will have to be carried by the participants.
Founded in 1481, and thus the oldest academic institution in all of Turkey, the University of Istanbul is rich in scholarly tradition. The campus, as it is today, was reshaped and modernized after the founding of the Republic of Turkey in October 1923.
As the country’s oldest academic institution, Istanbul University significantly influenced Turkish science – and Turkish society as a whole. In recent years, programs of cooperation with various European universities, e.g. in Greece, Rumania, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Israel, Sweden, and Bulgaria, to name but a few, have successfully been established.
Students interested in participating in the course are asked to send their respective documents (including application forms, letter of intent for the course, curriculum vitae, student career, and two passport photographs) to the following address:
