In August 2021, the USA and its allies withdrew from Afghanistan. Emran Feroz joins the "Deep Dive" podcast to shed light on the human rights situation in the country after three years of Taliban rule.

In this episode of "Die Kulturmittler:innen - Deep Dive", Qantara author and Afghanistan expert Emran Feroz sheds light on the human rights situation in the country, which is shaped by a complex interplay of political instability, cultural practices and restrictive policies. Women's rights in particular have been severely restricted, and bans on education and employment have been imposed. Violence against minorities, suppression of freedom of expression and other harsh laws further aggravate the situation.

Emran Feroz is a journalist and author and reports regularly from and about Afghanistan for media such as Die Zeit, Al Jazeera, The New York Times and the ifa online magazine Qantara.de (see author profile).
