Arabic literature in German translation

The ArabLit brand, brainchild of writer and reviewer Marcia Lynx Qualey, is a treasure trove for those interested in literature from the Arab world. The journal generally showcases literary works translated from Arabic into English, but for Qantara.de the question remains: what Arab and Arabic literature has been translated into German?

This list, organised by author, includes novels, short-story and poetry collections, a few plays by single authors, as well as some non-fictional literary works, such as autobiographies written originally in Arabic or in another foreign language by an Arab writer. Collections of the works of various writers have not been included, nor have Arab writers who write in German, such as Rafik Shami or Salim Alafenisch.

At the bottom of the list, you will find a few books for children and YA readers translated into German.
